Media Temple is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead our Frontend (UI/UX) development team. The ideal candidate will have strong fullstack development experience and expert level frontend development experience. They will have a proven track record of effective leadership of an engineering team. They will be passionate about mentoring their team of frontend engineers in modern best practices of both frontend and backend technologies. They will be driven by a strong sense of customer service and work closely with other teams (both in and out of engineering) to drive innovation and provide the best possible experience for our customers.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Define and enforce best practices and coding standards for the front-end team
  • Help to scale the team, tooling and workflows
  • Improve the team’s self-sufficiency by mentoring them in modern frontend and backend engineering concepts
  • Participate alongside the team in hands-on development
  • Collaborate deeply with a team of developers, product engineers, sales, marketing and customer success advocates
  • Foster a customer-centric culture on the engineering team

Requirements

  • A minimum of two years experience as an effective people leader
  • A minimum of five years of experience building and supporting a combination of template-based and dynamic web applications
  • Expert knowledge of JavaScript
  • Strong understanding of CSS
  • Strong understanding of python
  • Experience with various third-party CMS platforms (WordPress, Craft, Contentful, etc)
  • Experienced at effectively leading remote teams
  • Experience leading an agile development team
