Senior Accounting Manager - London

Primary Location: Hayes, United Kingdom

Location: London with occasional travel to Hayes

This is a hybrid position. You’ll divide your time between working remotely from your home and at our Hayes office, so you should live within commuting distance from the office. Hybrid teams may work in office as much as a few times a week or as little as once a month or quarter. The hiring manager can share more about what the future of work might look like for this team. Due to COVID-19, you’ll work remotely from day one until it’s safe for you to return to the office. Our leadership monitors local conditions and will communicate return to work plans as we approach reopening for the Hayes office.

What you'll get to do...

The Senior Accounting Manager is responsible for ensuring that GL activities are timely reported and accurately presented. The ideal candidate should have a solid base in general accounting and a strong analytical and problem-solving ability including the ability to research transactions.

Plan, coordinate and work with employees in various levels and functions of the company, maintain data integrity in financial systems, maintains strong internal controls and engage in continuous process improvements and automation.

  • Responsible for the preparation of general ledger entries and the accurate presentation on financial statements
  • Effectively align with appropriate departments and third parties to gather necessary data to close the general ledger
  • Maintains and improves SOX compliance for accounting functions and participates in SOX documentation and testing
  • Responsible for month end close process, including preparation of journal entries, reconciliations, and account analysis in a timely manner
  • Provide subject matter expertise for GL accounting team in supporting projects and facilitating internal and external financial reporting processes
  • Coordinates completion and oversight of certain regions for international statutory reporting and compliance
  • Identifies and proactively provides solutions for automation and process improvement while ensuring daily responsibilities are completed with detail, accuracy, and timeliness

Your experience should include...

  • Bachelors Degree in accounting/Finance. Qualified accountant, ACA or ACCA with must have practice audit experience 
  • 5+ years of relevant accounting experience
  • Experience working for a large, global company is highly preferred
  • Strong understanding of accounting theory
  • Strong knowledge of UK GAAP and IFRS required, and knowledge US GAAP desirable
  • Auditing skills, with the ability to research and reconcile difficult accounts
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel experience
  • Highly detail oriented and organised in work
  • Ability to meet assigned deadlines
  • Proactive and independent
  • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and external agencies to maximise performance, creativity, problem solving, and results
